I can probably get us listed for the Granada show in Lawrence. It's on Sunday 5/2 which is better for me and it's an easier drive than Chicago IMO.

Well, to be honest the Granada is a pretty crappy venue (saw Amon Amarth there). Right in front of the stage is a 10-12 foot wide orchestra pit and behind that the rest of the venue is raised up above the stage. You can't see the band unless you are squished right in front on the upper level or mashed in with all the kids in the pit. Not the best place to see a show. I was thinking about trying to see the tour in Milwaukee but that's on a Friday and Sunday does work perfect for me. Plus a road trip with you guys sounds fucking awesome and I'm assuming Sunday works best for you guys as well so I'm in. Also I'll drive, both ways. It's been a longtime goal for me to see 1349's drummer, Frost, live and I don't know if they will ever tour the states again so I don't want to miss this tour.

Now speaking of Amon Amarth, they are touring in April as well! They're headlining with Eluveitie (kick ass) and Holy Grail (lol) supporting. The closest they are coming is Chicago on Monday April 19. But they are also playing in Milwaukee the night before, which is Sunday again. I was thinking about trying to see them in Milwaukee because I hear Chicago sucks balls for driving and again Sunday is the perfect day to road trip for a show. I'm willing to road trip this as well. Thoughts?

Also, Jamie are you still interested in going to Dark Tranquillity? The guest list is closed because KSE are faggots but I can bring a guest if I take off that night and go myself, which I was thinking about doing anyway since there will be no money to be made and I think I'd kill myself if I had to listen to any of The Devil Wears Prada's "music". The show is Monday, March 15th.

As far as a Road Trip goes, I'd be down to go to Chicago (or wherever)to see Amon Amarth, but I wouldn't be up for the other show (maybe I'll check out 1349 and really want to see them, but I'll be just back from Vegas, so it'll be tight).
I'll go to Dark Tranquility fo sho...I'll go fo sho. Then we can just hang out in the Halo until they play, and then leave afterwards. Yay!

To me, 1349 is the best example of what a modern pure Black Metal band should sound like. Raw, brutally aggressive, and just a complete assault on your ears. If 40k were real and a legion of Chaos Daemons attacked and destroyed a planet this would be the soundtrack. Also, Frost is easily the best blastbeat drummer in history. Neil Peart at his peak would cry trying to recreate what Frost can do. Listen to these once and then listen to them again and try to focus on the drums. The guy is a fucking machine, and he plays without using triggers, utterly unbelievable. I really want to see him live. Plus, since america sucks this is one of the few chances we might be able to see a proper black metal show with corpse-paint and everything. I know you want to see that, just look at these guys:




Also, Skeletonwitch is entertaining as hell and you'll also get to see the real life inspiration of Nathan Explosion.

Skeletonwitch is fucking great and I am stoked to see 1349 based on your description. Cannibal Corpse is just a bonus, really.

As far as the Granada sucking, I totally agree. It sounds decent and sightlines are great if the show isn't packed (which this won't be) but it's a weirdly uncomfortable room. But on the upside it's easy to find parking and the drive is easy, and the fact that it's on a Sunday makes it, I think. I'll see what I can do for tickets but let's plan on this.

I want to see Amon Amarth again really bad but they are playing in Minneapolis, not Milwaukee. I hear Logan Square eats shit so I would be down for MN instead even though that is a bitch of a drive. Chicago would be fine with me, too. As long as I don't have to drive the entire way either direction I'm down.

I'm not even really into black metal and I am sold on this description. Not enough for the trip, but I'm going to listen to these tonight.
